corDECT Wireless in Local Loop

corDECT subsystems:

DIU
The Dect Interface Unit (DIU) is the main switching element in the corDECT system. It has a capacity of 1000 subscribers and can be linked to multiple DIUs for larger capacity. Each DIU supports up to 20 base stations (both directly as well as through Base Station Distributors). A DIU can be interfaced with the PSTN as an access node via V5.2. It also supports local switching capabilities when configured with R2 or SS7. Internet connectivity is provided via an E1 data interface.

Compact Base Station (CBS)
This is a Base station in the corDECT system.

Base Station Distributor (BSD)
The Base Station Distributor has an E1 interface to the DIU and supports a constellation of Base Stations.

Relay Base Station (RBS)
The Relay Base Station is an in-band relay station that can be placed up to 25 km from a Base Station. Service can now be offered to subscribers in a 10 km line-of-sight range around the RBS.

Subscriber Terminals (FRS)
corDECT has a standard Subscriber Terminal or Fixed Remote Station (FRS). It supports data speeds up to 70 kbps as well as toll quality voice. An FRS can be placed up to 10 km line-of-sight from a Base Station.

EMS
A comprehensive Element Management System is available for corDECT.

corPAT
corPAT is a performance analysis tool. It uses logs and data collected from the corDECT system and the EMS to help service providers to grow their business. For example, it can monitor utilization levels on a Base Station to help the service provider decide whether to add an additional Base Station site or to sign up more subscribers.
