corDECT is a fixed wireless access solution ideal for Wireless in Local Loop deployments in locations without copper. It supports toll quality voice and dedicated data services (up to 70 kbps) while enabling a range of value-added services. The system is designed to grow with the service provider while enabling significant upsell capabilities such as kiosks/cyber cafes or unified billing while limiting the total infrastructure needs.
With corDECT, subscribers can be located up to a 10 km line-of-sight distance from a Compact Base Station (CBS). Base Station Distributors and Relay Base Stations can extend this range significantly, enabling a service provider to serve pockets of subscribers in disparate regions using the same infrastructure.
corDECT has been deployed in over 25 countries around the world in a wide variety of environmental conditions.

DECT INTERFACE UNIT (DIU)
The DECT Interface Unit (DIU) is the main switching element in the corDECT system. It has a capacity of 1,000 subscribers and can be linked to multiple DIUs for larger capacity. Each DIU supports up to 20 Base Stations (both directly as well as through Base Station Distributors). A DIU can be interfaced with the PSTN as an access node via V5.2. It also supports local switching capabilities when configured with R2 or SS7. Internet connectivity is provided via an E1 data interface.
BASE TRANSCEIVER STATIONS
These comprise of the Compact Base Station, the Base Station Distributor (BSD) and the Relay Base Station. The Base Station Distributor has an E1 interface to the DIU and supports a constellation of co-located Base Stations.
The Relay Base Station is an in-band 12 full-slots relay station that can be placed up to 25 km from a Base Station. Service can be offered to subscribers in a 10 km line-of-sight range around the RBS.
FIXED SUBSCRIBER TERMINALS (FRS)
The FRS supports data speeds up to 70 kbps as well as simultaneous toll quality voice. The FRS can be up to 10 km line-of-sight from a Base Station.
