BroadbandcorDECT-NG
uses the same platform as BroadbandcorDECT
and with upgraded Radio access equipment providing
data rates of up to 2 Mbps per subscriber, while continued
to support all the services for voice and data. Also
BroadbandcorDECT-NG system provides
Non-Line of sight installations, enabling nomadic
subscriber terminals. The CPEs can optionally be used
as a WiFi Access Point or GSM/3G Femto Base Station
with Wireless IP backhaul supporting Fixed Mobile
Convergence. Both BroadbandcorDECT
and BroadbandcorDECT-NG system
uses 20 MHz spectrum mostly allocated in many countries
for DECT radio operation.
BroadbandcorDECT-NG
system supports an enhanced Air Interface to provide
up to 2 Mbps data rate per CPE. The network is now
upgraded to be end-to-end IP centric. The exchange-end
sub-system consists of the (optional) corVAN-NG that
provides an Ethernet Interface towards Base Station
Aggregators (BSA).
BSA replaces the BXD of
the BroadbandcorDECT system. BSA
is now an outdoor mount system, installed at the base
of the tower, and connects to multiple tower top NG
Base Stations (NBS). BSA interfaces with the corVAN-NG
on Ethernet links.
The NG Base Station
(NBS) of the BroadbandcorDECT-NG
system uses the same DECT spectrum, but also uses
higher level modulation schemes such as 16-QAM and
64-QAM to achieve even better spectral efficiency.
In addition, the NBS capability is enhanced to operate
on multiple carriers to achieve manifold down link
and uplink Bandwidth. Improved link margin and enhanced
algorithm allows Non-Line of Sight deployment.
Base Station Aggregator (BSA)
The Base Station Aggregator (BSA) of the BroadbandcorDECT-NG and SNAP! system is designed to be outdoor/indoor mounted (typically at the bottom of the tower). The BSA provides a high speed data link over fiber or copper to the Base Stations on tower top. BSA is modular in architecture supporting multi technology Radio Base Stations and wide scale of subscriber base. BSA also can be configured to provide ASN gateway functionality. This allows the BSA to be directly connected to the Internet Backbone. This allows small-scale data network deployment.
Base Station
The Base Stations of the BroadbandcorDECT-NG is a compact weather-proof outdoor units which are mounted on tower-top, and are compliant to NEMA and IP ratings for outdoor mounting. Providing the Base Stations on tower-top reduces the RF Cable length from the Antenna to the Base Station saving both cost and loss in the RF cable.
BroadbandcorDECT-NG Base Station and subscriber terminals employ Adaptive Modulation schemes up to 64 QAM that provide up to six times the basic DECT data rate. The Base Station deployment is typically done as multi sector coverage on a tower (cell-site). Each cell-site contains 1 or 2 Base Stations which provide sectored coverage around it and if required a DECT wireless backhaul can be supported to work with remote BSA. 1:2 Frequency re-use is supported in cluster deployments with no two adjacent sectors utilizing the same frequency.
